Who we are
Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health (JHCIH) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, founded in 1991, is dedicated to advancing Indigenous health equity through public health initiatives, education, innovative research, and policy advocacy. For over three decades, the Center has combined Indigenous cultural strengths with both Western and Indigenous sciences to improve health and well-being. By positioning Indigenous leaders and professionals at the forefront of change, with a team of 80% Indigenous staff, JHCIH focuses on policy and advocacy, education and training, research and evaluation, and wise practices to promote Indigenous health equity and leadership in public health. JHCIH coordinates the US-based partners for the SPIRIT project.
